Terms of Service

These Terms of Service are effective as of January 1, 2026 and govern your use of Ate Local (the "Service"), operated by 8-L ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate account information and keeping it current.
• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• All activity that occurs under your account.

Please notify us promptly of any unauthorized access or suspected security issue.

You agree not to:

• Post content that is unlawful, deceptive, harassing, or infringing.
• Impersonate any person or business, or misrepresent your affiliation.
• Submit fake reviews, manipulate ratings, or attempt to influence rankings through improper means.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service.
• Scrape, resell, or bulk-export data from the Service without permission.

Businesses may create or claim a listing on Ate Local. By submitting a listing, you represent that you are authorized to do so and that all information provided is accurate. We may verify, edit, remove, or refuse to display listings at our discretion.

Featured Placements are limited to a small number of positions per market and are reserved on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis at a fixed price for the selected term.

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date.
• You may cancel at any time from your business dashboard and remain live through the end of your current billing period.
• Except where required by law, fees paid are non-refundable.
• Featured Placement does not influence review content or star ratings.

Founding Pricing may be offered to a limited number of early businesses in a market. Eligible Founding Members receive the promotional rate for as long as their subscription remains active and in good standing. If a Founding subscription lapses or is canceled, the Founding rate is forfeited and future reactivation is subject to then-current pricing. Founding Pricing terms may change for new participants at any time.

You retain ownership of the content you submit. By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the Service. Reviews and ratings are independent of paid placement and may not be purchased or exchanged for compensation. We may remove content that violates these Terms or our community guidelines.

The Ate Local name, logo, design, software, and all related materials are owned by 8-L and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license granted to use the Service, no rights are transferred to you.

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing to a paid feature, you authorize us and Stripe to charge the payment method on file for the applicable fees and any renewals until you cancel. You are responsible for keeping your billing information current. Failed payments may result in suspension of paid features.

Ambassadors may earn referral rewards for helping local businesses join Ate Local, subject to program rules published in the Ambassador area of the Service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the program, or adjust reward terms, at any time. Ambassadors must comply with all applicable laws, including disclosure requirements when promoting the Service.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any information (including business details or reviews) is accurate or current.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, 8-L and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
